Kwara Deputy Governor, NOA Urge Pilgrims to Be Exemplary Ambassadors in Holy Land
The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Kwara State Directorate, has urged intending Christian pilgrims to demonstrate discipline, integrity, and responsible citizenship throughout the 2025 Holy Pilgrimage.
Speaking on Wednesday at a pilgrimage seminar organised by the Kwara State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, the state director, Abdulganiy Dare, represented by Joseph Inawole, said the pilgrimage transcends prayers and spiritual devotion, serving also as a test of character and national responsibility.
"You are representing your families, churches, Kwara, Nigeria and the Christian faith in your host countries," he told the pilgrims.
Mr Dare emphasised that conduct must be guided by the National Values Charter, which includes discipline, integrity, respect for authority, tolerance, patriotism, and social harmony.
"These values must guide your actions before, during and after the pilgrimage," he said.
He warned against absconding, overstaying, and disobedience, stating that such behaviour damages Nigeria's image and jeopardises future pilgrimage arrangements.
Kwara State Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, urged the pilgrims to be good ambassadors and comport themselves with decorum.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Board, Timothy Opoola, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and urged pilgrims to strictly follow guidelines and shun abscondment.
