Tribute to Late Maj. Gen. Abdullahi Muhammad Adangba By Prof. Abdulrazaq Olayinka Oniye

Date: 2025-11-05

Gen Abdullahi Muhammad was a pan African leader because of his avowed commitment to national security, integrity, uncommon dedication to service and the security of the Africa continent. He was a detribalized Nigerian and seasoned administrator going by his track records at the helm of affairs as the pioneer Director of NSO, Military Administrator of old Plateau State, National Security Adviser to Gen. Abdulsalam and Chief of Staff to Presidents Obasanjo and Umaru Yar'Adua.

Gen. Mohammed demonstrated the discipline associated with his military background by refusing to be drawn into the mucky water of partisan politics while he holds sway at all call to National service.

He contributed in no small measure to the human capital development across all sectors of the Nigerian state. At the family front, he was benevolent and instituted legacies that made the ancenstral family a symbol of pride and model in the Emirate.

He was a successful father whose noble parenting manifested in the modesty of his children. Our family bears testimony to the quality of his parenting style through the exemplary personality of one of his daughters whom we are blessed to marry. She is an epitome of humility, simplicity and perfect obedience to wishes of her husband.

The Abdullahi Adangba family, our family, the Emir and Emirate and Nigeria have lost a rare gem, a worthy Ambassador and an uncommon patriot who has left a void difficult to fill. May Allah console our father the Emir of Ilorin over this painful loss. Prof. Abdulrazaq Olayinka Oniye Dean, Graduate School, University of Kigali, Rwanda.
