Kidnappers Retain Hostages Despite N14m Ransom and Goods Handover in Kwara
Seven kidnapped victims remain in captivity in Kwara State despite the payment of a N14 million ransom and additional items demanded by their abductors on Tuesday.
The victims were taken hostage earlier this month while traveling from Abuja to Offa in a Sienna bus (registration number FFA 50XD) operated by Olumoh Express, a transport company based in Offa.
According to reliable sources, the ransom included N14 million, a bag of rice, twelve chickens, and mobile phone recharge cards. However, the kidnappers have yet to release the victims.
Daily Post reports that the abduction occurred on Friday, 25 April 2025, around 5:45p.m., near Eleyin village along the Isanlu-Isin route in Kwara South Senatorial District. The victims were en route from Abuja to Offa at the time.
Two children who were in the vehicle at the time were left behind and later rescued by the police, while the remaining seven individuals were taken away by the assailants, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
Efforts to contact the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in Ilorin on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
