Rangers and Kwara United Secure Semi-Final Berths Amid Dramatic Penalty Comeback
The semi-finalists of the 2025 President's Federation Cup have been confirmed, with Rangers, Kwara United, Ikorodu City, and Abakaliki FC progressing to the final four, reports DAILY POST .
In Abuja, Rangers narrowly defeated Plateau United 1-0 in a tense encounter. Midfielder Chiedozie Okorie secured the winner with a goal in the 30th minute, propelling the five-time champions into the semi-finals.
Kwara United's path was more dramatic, overturning a 2-0 deficit to beat Akwa United 5-4 on penalties. Tunde Sanni's side trailed early but fought back, with Wasiu Alalade scoring twice before half-time to level the match.
At the Bwari Stadium in Abuja, Shola Adelani netted the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 55th minute as Ikorodu City eliminated Nigeria National League, NNL side Wikki Tourists with a 1-0 win.
The Oga Boys will now clash with giant killers Abakaliki FC in the semi-finals.
Abakaliki FC overcame Nasarawa United 5-4 on penalties after a tightly contested encounter ended 1-1 in regulation time.
