NASFAT Organises Special Prayer for 4 New Offa Indigene VCs

The Nasrul-lahil-fathi (NASFAT) society, Offa branch, Kwara State has organised a special prayer for Allah's guidance, protection and successful tenure for their sons who have just been appointed as Vice Chancellor and deputy vice chancellor in different institutions.

The people included vice chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Professor Musibau Akanji, vice chancellor, Fountain University, Osogbo, Professor B.A. Raji, former vice chancellor, Fountain University, Osogbo, Professor H. Oloyede and deputy vice chancellor, University of Ilorin, Professor Bayo Lawal.

The prayer, which was held at the Offa Central Mosque, Offa was attended by  prominent sons and daughters of the ancient town, including traditional title holders.

In his sermon, the Chief Imam of University of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdulganiyu Oladosu, charged the new vice chancellors to be God-fearing in the discharge of their duties, adding that they should also justify the confidence reposed in them.

He said their appointment was a divine help and an act of Allah.

The religious leader also charged the new vice chancellors to always be grateful and thankful to God for His kindness and goodness to them, adding that they should always be prayerful and use their new positions for the services of God and humanity, stressing that they should seek God's favour and mercy.

He warned them against arrogance and pride, including other acts capable of tarnishing their names or community, adding that they should always submit themselves to the will of God to succeed in their new tasks.

Speaking on societal issues, Sheikh Oladosu admonished Muslims to train their children in the way of Allah and monitor their movement in order to make them useful citizens in the society.

He also said that miseducation makes children to commit different forms of atrocities and enjoined Nigerians, irrespective of tribal, religious or political affiliation to always embrace peace, love and unity as a way of moving the nation forward.

The cleric also commended NASFAT society, Offa branch for its educational, religious and empowerment programmes through the establishment of schools, building of mosques and Islamic centres as well as assisting of the poor and the under-privileged, among others.

In his goodwill message at the occasion, the Aremo of Offa, Professor Mosobalaje Jamiu Oyawoye challenged the new VCs to make their positive contributions to the moral and educational decadence in the educational sector.

Also speaking, the zonal chairman of NASFAT in Kwara state, Prince Sulaiman Fagbemi, who urged the VCs to live above board and participate in NASFAT programmes, presented copies of a book, "Guiding Principles of Islam" to the new VCs .

In his welcome address, the chairman of Offa branch of NASFAT, Prince Khalik Adegboye said the thanksgiving programme was organised to pray God for successful tenure of the leaders and urged them to live exemplary life.       

Responding on behalf of others, Professor Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal thanked Gid His kindness and commended NASFAT for organising the special prayer, calling for their continued prayers to enable them succeed in their task.
