Government Announces Alternative Routes Amid Road Construction
According to a news report from the Kwara State Government Facebook Page, the Kwara State Ministry of Works and Transport has announced various alternative routes to alleviate traffic congestion as construction commences on the Post Office-Emir Road-Isale Oja Roads.
This construction, previously approved by the cabinet, is part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's urban renewal projects.
"We advise that commuters make use of alternative routes in Taiwo Isale, Edun, Obo Road, Niger Road, Opomalu, Centre Igboro, Balogun Fulani, and Bolanta Roads to connect other parts of the Ilorin metropolis while the re-construction is ongoing," according to a statement by the Hon. Commissioner for Works and Transport Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo.
"To effect the smooth commencement of re-construction on these roads, we also advise residents to remove all vehicles on both sides of the construction routes.
"While we acknowledge the inconveniences that commuters and residents may experience during the reconstruction of these roads, we seek cooperation and patience as the government builds a resilient infrastructure and lasting legacy for our beloved State.
"We appreciate His Excellency for committing to building safer, smoother, and more beautiful roads that will grow our state's economy."
History....
The dual carriageway on the Emir's Road was started by the Adamu Attah administration and was completed by Group Captain Salaudeen Adebola Olatinwo.
This is the first major reconstruction work on the road since the Latinwo years.
