Kwara police kill three kidnappers

Date: 2023-01-26

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Paul Odama, has said policemen attached to the command killed three suspected kidnappers in a gun duel.

He identified the slain suspects as Bala Idris, Hassan Idris and Baso Idris.

Odama, while briefing journalists during a press conference at the police command in Ilorin on Monday, said the kidnappers were apprehended when they were about to abduct their targets.

He said, “During an exchange of gunfire, three of the kidnappers were neutralised while two suspects, Lagi Bala and Iliasu Idris, were arrested.

“During the incident, three locally-made guns were recovered, while the arrested suspects confessed to being kidnappers and cattle rustlers.

“The suspected kidnappers also confessed to being responsible for the series of kidnapping cases in the Malete and Shao areas of Kwara State.

“Investigation is ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the gang, while the two arrested suspects would be charged as soon as investigation is concluded.”
