UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN PRESS STATEMENT: Students' Resumption: Advisory on Likely Traffic Glitch on University Road
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and the entire management of the University of Ilorin are eagerly waiting to welcome new and returning students of the University back on campus as from Thursday, December 15, 2022 for the commencement of the 2021/2022 academic session.
While coming to school, our dear students and their parents are enjoined to exercise great patience in the face of the traffic challenges they are likely to encounter, as a result of the on-going construction of a Flyover on the Tipper Garage axis of the University Road.
Great Unilorites, we want to assure you that the University management is in touch with the Kwara State government, which has in turn assured us that actions are being expedited on the Flyover construction to ensure its timely completion.
To avoid the Tipper Garage route, there are two alternative routes to access the Tanke Oke Odo road towards the main campus.
The first one is the detour after the Government Day Secondary School, Tanke, enroute Pipeline to Awolowo Road, which bursts out at old Mark Fuel Station on University Road. The second one is the Fate-Tanke Road by the old Saw Mill, Tanke, enroute the Police F Division Road that bursts out at old Mark Fuel Station.
Commuters and motorists can also access the University main campus from town through the newly constructed UITH – Main Campus Link road to avoid the likely traffic build-up on the Tanke access road and reduce the attendant delay in getting to the campus.
While wishing our dear students journey mercies back to Ilorin and to the campus for the resumption of their studies, we wish them hitch-free and highly rewarding new academic session.
Let's keep to all rules and regulations guiding our conducts as great Unilorites.
Thank you.
E-Signed
