Police ban okada operations from 7 p.m. in Ilorin

The Kwara State Police Command has prohibited the operations of commercial motorcycles, popularly called okada from 7:00 p.m.

Speaking with journalists at the Command Headquarters, Ilorin, the Police Public Relations Office (PPRO), Mr. Dabo Ezekiel, said police had commenced full enforcement of the ban.

"To ride after 7:00 p.m. in the metropolis is prohibited and is a violation of the ban. Henceforth, anybody arrested by the law enforcement agency will be prosecuted and such motorcycles will be impounded," he said.

Speaking on the recent meeting between the acting Inspector General of Police and the police Public Relations Officers in the states, Dabo said that the IG called on the general public to directly report unethical conduct of police officers to him via numbers 0805966666 and 0806244334, for prompt disciplinary measures against such erring officers.

The police image maker also said that any other member of the public who has any vital information that could assist the police in performing their duty can still reach the necessary officer through the above numbers.
