Kwara APC Reps Rerun: Olawuyi Gets Ticket As Other Aspirants Step Down
Honourable Tunji Olawuyi, the incumbent House of Representatives member, representing, Ekiti, Irepodun, Isin and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 General Elections.
Olawuyi popularly called Ajuloopin, emerged the winner after pulling a total of 180 votes to defeat Olusegun Adebayo who scored seven votes out of 210
The returning officer for the exercise, Prof Emmanuel Dan-Daura, after announcing the results, said two of the aspirants, Abiola Abdulkareem and Oladayo Olaosebikan, stepped down for Olawuyi before the commencement of voting.
He said 201 delegates were accredited to vote in the election, out of which 14 votes were invalid.
Other aspirants who sent in their agents to participate in the election include, Kayode Bankole, Gbenle Adeyemi and Dr Toba Oloyede but they had no vote in the rerun.
APC had ordered a rerun for Ekiti, Isin, Irepodun and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara after receiving a petition from one of the aspirants sighting omission of his name in the first election.
There was excitement and jubilation by party faithful and loyalists of Olawuyi as he won the House of Reps seat.
Some of the delegates who arrived the venue were full of praises for the conducive atmosphere the election was conducted, adding that it was a rancour-free exercise.
The leadership of the party from the four local governments that made up the constituency commended the exercise, adding that the stage was now set for the general elections.
The four APC chairman in the LGAs also commended the exercise, stressing that they would now go back to prepare for the task ahead.
An exciting crowd besieged the lawmaker to congratulate him on his victory as scores of motorbike riders AKA Okada and artisans followed him to his constituency office to celebrate the victory.
