Kwara Lawmaker Empowers Constituents With POS Machines, Take-Off Grant, Others
A member representing Omupo state constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulganiyu Folabi Salahuddeen has presented Point of Sale(POS) machines with a take-off grant, among other items to 1,000 members of his constituency as part of the empowerment programme.
Some other materials presented to the state beneficiaries at the event held in the open field of St. Michael School, Omupo, at the weekend, include motorcycles, deep freezers, welding machines, sewing machines, grinding machines, agricultural spraying machines, school bags and cash grants.
Speaking at the event, the lawmaker said that the programme, organized for the less privileged households across eight wards and five districts of his constituency, was aimed to give back to his community.
Hon. Salahudeen, who said that the scheme was outside his usual assistance to his constituents, added that his stewardship since 2019 had changed the narrative and ensured that his constituency takes her rightful state.
The legislator also said that he had taken care of the needs of his people in such areas as education, road projects, sports, and health, adding that his legislative performance had yielded dividends among his people.
While appreciating Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Speaker of the House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Danladi Salihu and other members of the state’s ninth Assembly for their concern in his state constituency, Hon Salahudeen promised not to misuse the gesture.
“Today’s empowerment activities to 1,000 households include agricultural inputs, social empowerment, artisans’ engagement, economic relief, cash grants and infrastructural development.
“We have also identified the poorest of the poor within our community in order to complement the Social Service programme of the governor through the KWASSIP Programme.
“We have also identified 500 market women and elderly members of our constituency where we will enrol them in the special scheme designed by my constituency office, the Owo Arugbo and Owo Isowo programme. A programme we will be incorporating with our annual bursary programme. The bursary programme will be expanded to accommodate additional 85 students within our constituency”, he said.
The lawmaker on behalf of his constituents reaffirmed support for Governor Abdulrazaq, adding that his achievement was realized through the commitment of Governor Abdulrazaq in the state constituency.
He called on his constituents to join hands in ensuring that the constituency takes the lead in bringing the governor back for another four-year term to make the constituency and the state move forward.
“We are guaranteed to get more in our constituency when we support the present administration”, he said.
While unveiling the empowerment items, the Speaker of the ninth Kwara House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Salihu, accompanied by other members of the House, attested to the personal commitment of the lawmaker in taking the constituency to a greater height.
The Speaker charged people to support the legislator and the governor for the second term, disclosing that the achievement of the lawmaker had made rancour, hatred, or enmity unnecessary.
He called on the commissioner, party leaders and all stakeholders from the constituency and Ifelodun local government to abhor bitterness against each other and work as a team to return Governor Abdulrazaq and the lawmaker for another four years.
