APC, ADC members defect to PDP in Kwara

Date: 2021-09-06

No fewer than 700 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress and the African Democratic Congress across wards in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Saturday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.

The defectors claimed to belong to Lai Mohammed and Raheem Olawuyi groups in the ruling APC government in the state.

Welcoming the decampees at a ceremony in Omu-Aran, the headquarters of the council, a former member of the House of Representatives, Gbenga Makanjuola said that it is in the PDP that their expectations would be met and their welfare taken care of.

Makanjuola, who was a former deputy Chief of staff to the former Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, expressed gratitude to the decampees for finding the PDP worthy.

He described the decampees as "political grass-roots" who joined the PDP after several private meetings.
