Date: 2021-07-21

The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Monday rewarded the state’s contingent to the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival for their outstanding performances.

The Governor, who was represented by the state’s Head of Service, Mrs Susan Oluwole, said the result was a reflection of the giant strides of his administration in sports development.

He advised the athletes not to rest on their oars but continue to work hard and be the best they could be in their chosen sporting careers.

Kwara won 43 medals comprising seven gold, five silver and 31 bronze at the event.

As a reward for the athletes, the Governor announced N250,000 for each gold medalists, N150,000 for silver medalists and N75,000 for bronze medalists, while for the coaches, he announced N250,000 for gold, N200,000 for silver and N100,000 for bronze, amounting to N9m in total.

AbdulRazaq also pledged cash to Eniola Bolaji, who won the Spanish Para Badminton International in Cartagena, Spain earlier in the year.
