DPR Shuts Three Petrol Stations in Ilorin for Fuel Price Hike
Three filling stations were yesterday sealed up by the Department of Petroleum Resources in Ilorin for selling fuel above the approved price of N97 per litre.
The affected stations were the Unilorin Petrol Station, Mudran and Super Oil Petrol Station.
Investigations by newsmen revealed that while Super Oil and Mudran were selling the commodity at N120 per litre, the Unilorin filling station sold for N115.
The Comptroller of DPR in Ilorin, Engr. Amos Jokodola, who confirmed this in a chat with newsmen, said the raid was carried out following a tip-off.
He said out of seven filling stations visited, only four of them were selling at government approved rate.
The DPR boss said the exercise will be a continous one to ensure that users get better deal.
In a related development, the DPR has debunked the allegation that some oil marketers have jerked up the price of the product contrary to government''s approved price of N97 per litre.
It warned that any filling station selling above the regulated price would be sealed.
The DPR Comptroller told newsmen that his office had been inundated with complaints about sharp practices on the part of marketers, assuring that the department would intensify monitoring to ensure that the commodity is sold at the official price.
He therefore urged end users of petrol to stop patronising black marketers, pointing out that anybody that does that will be taking a risk.
