Kwara Plans 6,000 Housing Units - Hon. Muhammed Babakpan Isah
The kwara state commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Muhammed Babakpan Isah, has said that the present administration in the state is to construct 6,000 housing units within its tenure.
Isah disclosed this on Monday during an interview with newsmen during the just concluded 52nd Independence anniversary of Nigeria held at Metropolitan Square, along Asa-Dam road, Ilorin, the state capital.
The commissioner explained that effort is on top gear to achieve its set objective of building 6,000 houses between now and the next three years.
According to him, "We have a robust plan for housing and urban development in kwara. We are doing this to make housing available and affordable for the teeming kwarans for them to realise their dreams of becoming house owners.
"We want to achieve this by providing at least about 6,000 housing units in kwara within our tenure in office" the commissioner pledged.
He added that the government plans to achieve the 6,000 housing units by partnering with Public developers under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
"We plan to achieve this housing projects by partnering with Public developers under the PPP arrangement. The government will commit the land for the project and the development will be undertaken by the private investors.
Isah called on kwarans to be patient with the present administration in the state, promising that governor Abdulfatah Ahmed led administration in the state would not relent in its efforts to evolve propgrammes and policies that will have direct bearing on the lives of kwarans.
Also speaking with newsmen, the General Manager of the state Housing Corporation, Architect Saliu Sulaiman, who described housing as a continuous exercise, said the provision of housing was placed on utmost priority by the state government.
"Housing is a continuous thing, there is no starting point and there is no end point to housing. The plan is always in place and the delivery is a continuous process.
"Very soon we are going to see much that is going to be delivered for kwaransin terms of housing. Definitely, it is going to be better than what it has always been" Sulaiman promised.
