The Kwara State Government has directed its Ministry of Works and Transport to carry out immediate repairs on the Ajasse-Ipo-Erin-Ile federal road which has been in a very deplorable State.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Media and Strategy, Dr Femi Akorede announced this while briefing newsmen after the State Executive Council meeting in Ilorin.

Dr Akorede, said the immediate intervention would be in form of filling of potholes on the road while efforts would be intensified to liaise with the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) for further and more enduring intervention on the road.

The Governor's aide also said the State Executive Council directed that machinery should be initiated for further interaction with the federal ministry of works on other federal roads in the State, especially Kaiama-Kishi and Ilorin-Jebba roads that are similarly in deplorable conditions.

Dr Akorede emphasized that as part of efforts to boost its internally generated revenue, the Executive Council considered a memorandum on government property in Abuja, Kaduna and Lagos States and directed Harmony Holdings Limited to streamline and transform them to generate revenue for the State.

The Executive Council Meeting, according to Dr Akorede, has also set up a committee headed by the Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed to identify the causes of prolong power outage in Gbugbu-Lade-Lafiagi and Patigi axis of the State.

The Committee, which has one week to submit its report, the Senior Special Assistant said, must recommend immediate solutions to the power outage problems in the affected areas.

In his contribution, the State's Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed announced that the State government is to establish a council on establishment matters to tackle recruitment problems, management of challenges and issues relating to civil service at the local government level.

Alhaji Dabarako said the Council on Establishment which will be headed by the Head of Service will have some Permanent Secretaries, local government area Directors of Personnel Management as members.

The Head of Service explained that the task of the council would be mainly advisory on matters that have over the years created conflict and challenges in the civil and public service matters.
