Kwara Assembly tasks state government on eradication of Measles

Kwara House of Assembly on Tuesday called on the state government to intensify its public enlightenment programme on the eradication of Measles and other childhood killer diseases in the state.

The House made the call in its resolution after considering a motion on the implementation of 2018 Measles Vaccination Campaign in Kwara.

The motion was moved by Ahmed lbn-Mohammed, the Chairman, House Committee on Health and Environment.

The Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad, read the House's resolutions.

Ahmad urged the state government to intensify campaign to ensure the success of vaccination of children of nine months to five years against measles slated for March 1 to 13.

The speaker said that the motion was timely and would enhance the health of the younger generation.

He called on people of the state to take advantage of the vaccination to immunise their children against measles.

The speaker also urged the state government to direct the state Ministry of Information and Communication to intensify efforts on public enlightenment against the spread of the disease.
