Babooko District Seeks Truce With Ilorin PHCN Costumers
Management of PHCN in Babooko District with office at Babooko Area of Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State, has called on its customers with complaints or grievances on power supply and distribution in their various communities to come forward for amicable resolution.
Speaking with Community News in Ilorin recently, the Business Manager of the PHCN District, Engineer Sina Ayandokun, said the company had resolved many complaints brought to its notice on power supply, billing, among others, with meetings and sustained relationship with individual customer.
The PHCN official, who regretted that some customers preferred to take their grievances and complaints to law enforcement agents and the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), added that people of Sabo Oke in Ilorin, had never brought their complaints to his office.
He also frowned at activities of leadership in some communities, who he said tasked people in their areas that development levy in the community should be a prerequisite for reconnecting indebted PHCN customers who might have paid their electricity bills.
Engr Ayandokun also explained that movement of a community from one district or undertaking was based on decision of the company and on its technical consideration and not on geographical matter, telling Sabo Oke community in Ilorin Metropolis that they should jettison the plan to move to Challenge District of the company.
"PHCN does not operate like that. The arrangement is done based on technical matter and consideration and not geographical consideration. This Babooko District in IIorin, Kwara State supplies electricity to Igboho, Igbeti and Kisi in Oyo State. The people can't dictate that. That's blackmail," he said.
He also enjoined PHCN customers to be socially responsible and peace-loving towards establishing and sustaining a more effective performance of the company.
