Date: 2017-11-07

The Nigerian Ambassador to Japan, Professor Mohammed Gana Yisa, has called on the political actors in the forthcoming local government elections in Kwara State to demonstrate maturity and comport themselves with the electoral rules.

The envoy also calls for peaceful conduct of the polls without security breaches.

Professor Gana Yisa who made the call in a statement issued to Journalists, also charged the electoral umpire in the state (KWASIEC) to create a level playing ground for all the political parties and contestants to flex their muscles in the local poll without fear or favour.

The Nigerian envoy stressed the need for the electorate to obtain their Permanent Voters Card and use it to elect candidates of their choices and political parties with the manifesto and programmes that would move the grassroots forward.

Professor Gana Yisa who is confident that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would emerge victorious in the poll, appealed to the electorate to cast their votes for all the candidates of the APC so as to further guarantee development of the grassroots. He commended the leadership of APC in the state, Senator Bukola Saraki, the Nigerian Senate President, the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed and the KWARA State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) for putting in structures in place and creating a conducive environment for the conduct of a smooth and hitch free forthcoming local government elections.
