Kayode Olawepo was one of the pillars of APC in Kwara State

Date: 2017-07-16

The former Chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), late Prince Kayode Olawepo has been described as a major contributor to the evolution of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State and its success in the 2015 elections.

The message was contained in a statement released in Ilorin on Tuesday by Kayode Oyin-Zubair who described late Olawepo as "a one man too many" in his days as the chairman of ACN.

He said late Kayode Olawepo emerged as the chairman of the party in 2010 and led it to the keenly contested 2011 Governorship election when his party fielded Mr. Mohammed Dele Belgore, SAN.

According to Oyin-Zubair, Kayode Olawepo gave his best to the solidification of the APC in Kwara as early as 2014 by bringing together former chairmen of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and later served in Mandate campaign office during 2015 electioneering process as the Director of Inter Party Relations.

Late Kayode Olawepo was committed to mother earth on Friday 14th July at his ancestral home of Edidi in Isin Local Government Area of the State.
