Kwara North Women cry out to KWSG on political appointments

Women in Kwara North Senatorial District have called for appointments of their members into different political positions both at the federal and state levels.
The All Progressives Congress Kwara North Senatorial Women Leader, comprising five local government areas, Hajia Jinat Ibrahim made the call in an interview with journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.
Hajia Ibrahim noted that women from the senatorial district were lagging and left behind in the political appointments, pointing out that they have qualified and competent women that are capable of discharging political office duties effectively and efficiently.
She also appealed to the Political leader of the state and Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to consider them in various political appointments as a way of empowering them and appreciating their political contributions to the success of the party.
She said " let me use this opportunity to appeal to our leader, the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and our amiable Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed to consider women from the Kwara North in the political appointments. We're left behind, and we have educated, intelligent and knowledgeable women that can be appointed as Special Advisers, Chairperson of Transition Implementation Committee of Local Governments, board of parastatals chairpersons and members. We want them to assist us and listen to our cries".
Speaking on the resuscitation of water corporation in Shonga, Edu Local Government Area of the state, the Senatorial Women leader commended the Senator representing Kwara North at the National Assembly, Senator Shaaba Lafiagi for fixing the water problem in the area.
According to her, the Corporation has been out of service for the past six years, pointing out that Senator Lafiagi committed a sum of ten million naira to resuscitate the water corporation, thereby addressing the water scarcity in Shonga.
"When Senator Shaaba Lafiagi visited the water corporation in Shonga to find out the problem confronting the Corporation which has been out of service for the past six years. It was discovered that only three water pipes are functioning out of thirty pipes. Senator Lafiagi fixed the water problem spending a whopping sum of ten million naira. The people of Shonga where I come from are now enjoying steady water supply", she said.
Hajia Ibrahim added that the Senator also fixed the water problem in Moro local government area, and reconstructed the collapsed bridge in the area.
The APC Kwara North Senatorial Women Leader, however, called on political office holders from the state to refocus attention on the empowerment of women folks, especially through provision of soft loans to jump start businesses.
