Address by Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad at the Public Hearing on ACJA Bill

Date: 2017-05-23

ADDRESS BY THE RT. HON. SPEAKER KWARA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, AT THE PUBLIC HEARING ON THE ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE BILL, 2017 ON MONDAY 22ND MAY, 2017.

Courtesy,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to this public hearing on the Kwara State Administration of Criminal Justice Bill, 2017.

Let me start by reiterating the commitment of this House to passing quality legislation.

This public hearing is meant to receive suggestions and input from you the stakeholders and indeed the general public, so that if the law is eventually passed, it will be people-oriented. I therefore thank you for responding to the invitation to be part of this occasion.

I am pleased to note that quite a number of stakeholders have already sent their written submission. This is commendable

Ladies and gentlemen, I feel humble to say that I am passionate about criminal justice administration and reform. I assure you that the same commitment that saw through the passage of the Criminal Justice Administration Act at the Federal level will be applied with even more vigour to ensure that this Bill is passed in good time.

I therefore call on you to feel free to present your views, comments and contributions on the Bill. They will all be considered in the processing of the Bill before passage into law.

I now have the honour and privilege to declare this public hearing open.

Thank you.
