Kwara To Promote Patronage of Local Products

Date: 2017-02-23

Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has pledged stronger support for MSMEs in order create more jobs and stimulate the economy.

Governor Ahmed gave the commitment while visiting stands of exhibitors at the ongoing MSME Clinic in Ilorin, sponsored by the Office of the Vice President.

Visibly impressed by the ingenuity of the MSMEs and the quality of their products, Governor Ahmed said the government will support them through patronage and capacity building.

An impressed Governor Ahmed bought a pair of leather sandals made by Offa-based Itelle Shoes, business with an annual turn over of N2.5m and several employees.

Alhaji Ahmed said the sandals and other shoes made by Itelle Shoes can compare with any imported brand.

Governor Ahmed was also informed that KWIRS has ordered Ankara PC Covers, made by another MSME from Kwara State.

Indeed, there are indications that the state government will soon embark of promotion of Made In Kwara products through government patronage and advocacy.
