Saraki vs LAK Jimoh. Court sets March 27 to decide
Ayinla Kolawole Jimoh filed the suit challenging Saraki's election as Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District on the platform of the PDP.
Ayinla, a Second Republic gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Republican Party (PRP), joined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Saraki and PDP as defendants in the suit.
Jimoh, who claims to be the actual candidate of the PDP argued that at the time of collecting and submitting of nomination forms for the senatorial election, Saraki was a presidential contestant and that Saraki's election as the PDP senatorial candidate for the senatorial district at the re-run of the party primary election held in Ilorin on January 29, 2011 was illegal, unconstitutional, null and void.
He is seeking an order restraining PDP from recognising, or accepting the result of the re-run primary election and Saraki's nomination as the PDP senatorial candidate for the Kwara Central senatorial district.
