OPINION: Let's Celebrate Our Teachers. By Abdulrafiu Abdulrahman

Date: 2016-10-05

I use this singular opportunity to call on Kwara State House of Assembly and other sectors to celebrate the teachers worldwide.

No doubt, we wouldn't have been here deliberating on the issues that has and/ or suppose to have impact on our society without the influence of "a teacher". We say a big thanks to our respected teachers.

However, it remains on daily record and of great concern, the neglect of of the important role teachers play in Community /National Development. Lack of enough encouragement to boost the passion and zeal to be a proud teacher, is a major factor that affects our educational system with the major effect on the younger generation. Because of the agonizing situation, most teachers think of the way out if Providence and opportunity present itself.

It is on this note that I joined the views of many, that if we really want to think about National Development and we recognise education as the key to sustainable National Development, we have to recognize that teachers are an important component of that very process and the possibility of realization of that goal.

I STAND BY THE SLOGAN THAT SAYS "NO TEACHER, NO NATION"

Hon. Abdulrafiu Abdulrahman is a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly representing the Ilorin North West constituency.
