Kwara speaker advocates Lawyers' participation in politics

Date: 2016-08-07

The Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad has attributed the suffering of Nigeria legislature to the nation's hostile system which discourages lawyers'participation and involvement in politics.

Citing example of the United States of America system, Ahmad explained that the system encourages lawyers' participation right from District Attorney to State Legislature, position of Governor or President.

The Speaker who bore his mind on the issue while fielding questions from journalists in Ilorin insisted that lawyers have a lot to contribute to make the country's legislature stable and work perfectly.

The speaker however charged lawyers lawyers to be bold, focused and determined to be successful as politicians, stressing that Nigeria could not be an exception regardless of any hindrances.
