Kwara United condemn hooliganism
Irked by the attitude of a fan, after the premier league encounter between Kwara United and Sharks of Port Harcourt, the management of Kwara United under the chairmanship of Bamidele Aluko has put up a security measure to checkmate unruly behavior and hooliganism during league matches in Ilorin.
In a statement made available by the team's Media Officer, Olayioye Ajde, it was stated that the management board arrested one Sayyed Usman who attempted an attack on an assistant referee after the match between Kwara United and Sharks FC and handed him over to the police for prosecution.
Olayioye Ajide noted that Usman, who is neither a supporter nor a fan of the Afonja Warriors made his way through the teeming spectators who were celebrating the victory of Kwara United, headed towards the official but was swiftly apprehended and handed to the police.
Aluko expressed surprise at the action of Usman after the homers had won the game 2-0. He deduced that the erring spectator must be acting out a script of those who are determined to cause havoc for Kwara United because nothing called for such protest after the cracker.
Aluko sounded that the management would not take it lightly with anyone who may want to cause confusion for the Kwara darling team.
"Even if there is error of judgment by the referee, we have to take it in good faith; after all in Europe there are cases of human error on the side of their referees, so attacking the referees would not bring any progress to the game; therefore, anyone caught would be dealt with according to the law," Aluko warned.
He thus pronounced that Usman has been banned from coming to the stadium to serve as deterrent to others.
The chairman also commended the officials who handled the Kwara United – Sharks league game for their sense of adjudication.
