Kwara slashes running cost by 50 % over drop in federal allocation
The Kwara Government said on Tuesday in Ilorin that it had cut its running cost by 50 per cent because of the drop in federal allocation to the state.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Communications, Dr Muyideen Akorede, told newsmen that the measure was to reduce cost of governance.
"Approximately, N400 million is now being used to run the government as against the previous N800 million.
"Since the federal allocation to the state dropped drastically, government has been working hard to pool resources for other developmental projects," he said.
He said that the administration of Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed would continue to initiate people- oriented projects that would have direct impact on citizens.
Akorede also said the submission of the BVN by civil servants had lapsed on Friday, adding that those who failed to heed the directive would be regarded as ghost workers.(NAN)
