300 benefit from NEMA intervention in Kwara - What they got

No fewer than 300 residents of different local governments in Kwara State on Friday benefited from the National Emergency Management Agency's disaster response and intervention.

Assistant Zonal Coordinator, Abuja Operations Office, NEMA, Mr. Slaku Lugard, in an interview with our correspondent, said the intervention was part of the agency's mandate to assist victims of disasters.

He said the intervention became necessary after Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed requeted NEMA's assistance for the victims of different disasters in the state.

Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Emergency and Relief Services, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, said the state requested relief materials from NEMA to complement the intervention efforts of the state government.

He stated that the agency provided for the victims, 300 bundles of roofing sheets, 600 bags of cement, 200 bags of mattresses, 100 bags of nails and 100 packets of zinc nails.

Others were 200 pieces of blankets, 200 pieces of towel, 200 pieces of buckets and 2,000 pieces of planks.

He urged the beneficiaries to avoid using inferior and substandard building materials to avoid building collapse.

A representative of the victims from Idim, Asa Local Government, Mr. Adebayo Lawal, commended the federal and state governments for their efforts.

Also a beneficiary from Ilorin West LG, Mrs. Rashidat Abdullahi, praised NEMA and the state government for the relief materials.
