CCT: Group tells Saraki to explore all legal means
The Association of Joint Stakeholders of Senator Saraki's Constituency has advised the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki to explore all legal means in his on-going trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Abuja.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Ishola O Abdulraman, General Secretary, Alhaji Kayode Suleiman Abdul and the Publicity Secretary, Alhaji AbdulRahaman Obalowu respectively and made available to The Herald yesterday.
According to the statement, "we strongly advice our Senator to use all legal means at his disposal to enforce his Fundamental Human Right to defend and ensure fair hearing of his trial in the highest law court".
The association however condemned all forms of blackmail, political persecution, media trial, intimidation and harassment of the Senate President. The group while assuring the President of the Senate its loyalty and support, implored him to be weary of detractors and remain focused on the mandate given to him by his constituents as a Senator of the Federal Republic and mandate of his colleagues as the Senate President.
The association informed that" the mandate given to the Senator on March 28, 2015 is for four years and ends by 2019?. The statement called on the Senate President to ignore all wicked and anti-democratic calls for his resignation by enemies of democracy. The association members were drawn from market associations, religious bodies, artisans and youths from Kwara Central Senatorial District.
