Kongbari People rejoice as UK Based Organisation Hope Spring sinks borehole in Community
The community which has a population of more than 100 people was full of praises and appreciation to the donor agency for coming to their rescue at a time when the community had serious water crisis.
The new motorised borehole has a storage capacity of 7,500 litetres of water, which is sufficient enough to serve the community on daily basis.
Founder of the organisation, Temitope Odurinde, a Nigerian based in the United kingdom, said the community was considered because of its peculiar water challenge and spirit of community development shown by the people through their self help projects.
Speaking at the commissioning of the project in Ilorin at the weekend, Odunrinde who was represented by the Spring Hope's representative in Nigeria, Mr Mubarak Oladosu, urged other communities with similar water challenge to contact the organisation through its website on http://www.hopespring.org.uk
He said the project was carried out by the organisation "to free long hours children and women spend in search of portable water".
He said the provision of the motorised bore hole will afford the children more time to pay attention to their studies while women will channel their time and energy to other ventures that will improve their socio - economic status and well-being.
Odurinde hinted that his organisation's cardinal objective was to provide potable water to communities that are confronted with acute shortage of water.
