Anxiety Grips Ilorin over Oloye's Health Condition

Date: 2012-06-26

Anxiety has  gripped the ancient town of Ilorin, the Kwara state capital and the political camps of the former senate leader and strongman of Kwara politics, Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki over his health condition.

Dr Saraki, fondly called 'Oloye' by his supporters, had been on vacation in the United States of America shortly after last year's general election where he was said to be getting medical attention.

A visit by our correspondent to his country home at Ile-Loke GRA, Ilorin on Tuesday, saw people in groups discussing about the health condition of Oloye.

Although, no one  was ready to comment on the development, but sources within the political camps of Oloye denied his puported death overseas.

However, the Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Media and Strategies, Alhaji  Raheem Adedoyi, insisted Dr Olusola Saraki is alive and kicking.

Adedoyin, who is a member of Saraki's political camp, made this clarification against the background of the wide spread rumour in the state, that the  frontline politician had passed on.

The rumour began on Monday that the 79-year-old politician, who has in recent times been managing with old age related health problems, had died abroad

Adedoyin in a text message sent to our correspondent Tuesday denounced the rumour saying the elderly politician is not only alive but also enjoying his vacation in the United States.

Bamikole Omishore, a media aide of Bukola Saraki the eldest son of the elderly politician and former governor of the state, also in a text message  confirmed that the  former senate leader is alive.
