Why ABS appealed O&D replay order - TM

Date: 2012-06-26

The Team Manager of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club, Alloy Chukwuemeka, has said that the Club appealed against the decision of the Organising and Disciplinary Committee, which ordered the replay of the home game with Sunshine Stars FC, to fight injustice.

Chukwuemeka, while briefing newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara State, said that there are questions to be answered by both the NPL and NFF on the controversial issue.

He said the league organisers, NPL, as part of their duties, re-scheduled the match for May 21, while the Appointment Committee of the NFF also okayed officials to officiate the match, with no counter information from the NPL before the walk-over was conducted.

According to him: "Did Sunshine Stars FC request the NPL to shift the date of the match for any acceptable reason?

"If yes, where is the approval for a shift in date granted and by whom?

"Did Dolphins FC and Heartland not make similar requests (Not granted)?

"Did the two teams not play their league games and still honour their continental engagements?

"Chukwuemeka said that Sunshine Stars FC were in Lagos when the walk-over was going on and there was no information either verbal or in writing confirming that they will not honour the match.

He added: "Which section of the rules did the O&D derive the power to order a replay from after a walk-over (section what?) and why was ABS FC not joined in the protest or invited as an interested party?

"As a responsible and responsive management, we seek for justice from the Appeal Committee and this was done in good fate and in accordance with the relevant rules governing the league."
