Kwara RTEAN to go on biometric exercise for members soon
In a bid to ensure safety of passengers and an efficient transport sector, the Kwara State branch of Roads Transport Employers Association (RTEAN), is set to embark on biometrics data capturing of its members.
This is coming as the national body of the association had commenced data capturing of its members in Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja penultimate week.
According to the state Chairman of the association, Alhaji Salman Ayoku said, "the essence is to reposition the association with effective Data Base Management System (DBMS).
"t will assist in keeping a reliable, accurate and authentic data base for the organization which can be accessible by all the security agencies and other partners.
"This is because it will stem or put to check cases of impersonation, touting or wrong people fraudulently using the name of RTEAN to cause problem in the society or committing crimes.
"With the Data Base Management System, every necessary information on the members as may be required by the various government agencies, which will assist us in the most effective planning and other transactions."
On the proposed implementation of speed limit devices by Federal Roads Safety Corps, beginning from April st1, he stressed that the association is support of it since it is targeted at ensuring safety on the road. The Chairman however urged government to ensure easy access of the device by the motorists.
Ayoku urged drivers to avoid taking alcohol before going the journey as this can pose a serious danger to the drivers and the passengers of the vehicles. He said "we have set up a task force in every chapter in the state to sensitize and checkmate the behaviors of drivers plying the roads."
