Date: 2016-02-29

The bid by the Kwara State Government at improving the state's income through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has received the overwhelming support of the youths in the state.

The Kwara State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), while drumming support for the initiative, called on all Kwarans to support the government as its strategies to block all loopholes and leakages, especially considering the dwindling allocation from the federation account.

In a release signed by the State Chairman of NYCN, which is the umbrella body for all youth organizations and voice of Kwara youth, Comrade Shehu Ndanusa Usman, they commended the state government, under the able leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed in its concerted efforts at improving the IGR.

The council believes that the new IGR drive will enables the state government meet up its obligations to the people, especially in providing more social amenities and infrastructural development in the state. In demonstrating their support to the government the youths have decided to embark on a one-week sensitization programme to all the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Council also commended Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed's administration on his fight against youth unemployment through Quickwin Youth Employment programme, while also urging the government to further expand the programme in a view to accommodating more young people.
