Mr. Ibrahim Bolaji Bello (IBB) who was appointed to take charge as acting Director General of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) will assume duty today.

The Federal Government had announced the appointment of Ibrahim Bello as the new Acting Director General of SEC last week, following the order of the commission's board last Monday for Ms Arunma Oteh to proceed on compulsory leave over graft allegation.

Ms Daisy Ekineh, the commissioner in charge of operation has been on the saddle for just four days as the tenure of the board headed Senator Udo Udoma expired last Friday.

The Minister of Finance, Dr.(Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala declared Thursday in Abuja that Bello is to take charge of the running of the affairs of the apex regulatory body of the Nigerian capital market to rule out the possibility of tenure elongation for the board. A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) and respected among operators in the Nigerian capital market, Bello was the Director of Administration in SEC before his appointment as acting Director General.

IBB as he is fondly called was born in Ilorin, Kwara State according to a statement issued by the commission's spokesman, Mr. Yakubu Olaleye.

He attended Government Secondary School Ilorin for his ordinary level certificate, Federal Government College Sokoto for Advance Level and the University of Lagos, graduating with Bsc Business Administration in 1978.

The new acting holds an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University ABU Zaria in 1981.
