N20bn Bond: Kwara APC Backs Government
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has expressed its support for the state government's plan to obtain N20bn bond from capital market to finance developmental projects.
The party in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, said the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not be granted the privilege of dictating how government activities should be conducted.
It added: "Kwara APC has noted the established concerns and observations of the opposition PDP on the N20bn bond proposed by the Kwara State government for infrastructural projects.
"We wish to state that instead of stating facts and presenting its arguments on the tripod of truth, the PDP has only mischievously brandished staggering figures and wide claims on the debt profile of Kwara State and propriety of the proposed N20bn bond.
"For instance, PDP claimed the N17bn bond obtained in 2009 is yet to be fully settled while, indeed, the bond was fully liquidated on August 5, 2014.
"Again, we wish to state that the bond would not impose ?any undue burden on the people of Kwara State and issues bordering on repayment plans of the bond have been well-thought out and sorted by the Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed-led administration.
"The bond will fund capital projects like the dualisation of Micheal Imoudu to Ganmo Road, part completion of Kishi - Kaiama Road, the indoor sports hall of Ilorin Stadium, new campuses for Kwara State University at Osi and Ilesha, school classrooms, remodelling of General Hospital, Oro, procurement of about 1,000 electricity transformers, equipments for the newly-built International Vocational Centre - Ajase Ipo, Industrial Park and others.
