Kwara Moves To End Fuel Scarcity
The Kwara state government yesterday announced plans to bringing to an end the acute fuel scarcity that has hit Ilorin, the state capital in the last two months.
Most residents and motorists in Ilorin now buy fuel from neighbouring states of Oyo and Osun following a biting scarcity that seemed to have defied solution.
But in his maiden meeting with members of the Correspondents Chapel of NUJ, the commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Mahmoud Ajeigbe said the state government would do all within its power to bring succour to the people.
He said, "we can only mount pressure on those concerned because the fuel issue is not directly our making as a government. We have seen what is happening and I am going to link up again with the appropriate authority so that we can mount more pressure on the people concerned. We will go out and deal with those who might be hoarding the product."
Only few filling stations had the product for sale when our reporter went round the metropolis yesterday. The situation has remained the same for about six days running.
