Press Release: Kwara APC dismisses call for Saraki's resignation
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the APC expressed grave concern over threats to the life of Senate President Bukola Saraki.
"We wish to unequivocally and categorically condemn, reject and dismiss the call for the resignation of Senate President Bukola Saraki by sponsored faceless groups and bought souls as out of place and politically-sponsored.
"Nigerians should make no mistake about it. The call for the resignation of Mr Senate President by agents of politicians is an ill fated and ill founded agenda that can not serve our dear country any good. It is fundamentally designed to suit the selfish interests of some desperate politicians.
"We also wish to express grave concern over threats to the life of the Senate President. We are not unaware of the limitless desperation of some terrible politicians to pull him down at all costs and we are concerned that they might result to option of assassination. Obviously, this constitutes a threat to life of the Senate President.
"The coordinated call for the resignation of Senate President Bukola Saraki by sponsored faceless groups and bought souls further confirms that the case against the Senate President is not an anti corruption driven case and cannot be part of the moves aimed at fighting corruption. It is simply a pure malicious and politically motivated prosecution aimed at undermining the person and the office of the Senate President.
"With the collective resolve of Nigerians for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria with utmost regard for principles of separation of powers and the independence of the legislature, and the uprightness of the judicial system, this devilish plot against the Senate President is doomed to fail.
"We call on the good people of Kwara State, friends and supporters of the Senate President to remain calm and embrace tranquility as we believe the judiciary is well alive to protect the Senate President from the trap orchestrated by desperate politicians.", the statement read.
