I did not spend Kobo from my Kwara pension - Saraki

Date: 2015-09-10

The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has said that he has not spent a Kobo from his pension as former governor of Kwara State.

Speaking when he presented scholarships to two Nigeria Law School students, Saraki said pension has been kept in his bank account.

Saraki was governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011 before he became a Senator representing Kwara Central.

"Let me put it on record that since the commencement of payment of the pension, I have not drawn a single kobo from it. I have been waiting eagerly to decide on what programme to channel it into. Thank God, the idea of the scholarship programme came up during the last campaigns and here we are today."

He said he decided to use his pensions to provide scholarship for the indigent students in the country.
