Subsidy Buses to Begin Operation in Kwara

Fifteen buses deployed to Kwara State by the President Jonathan's administration to cushion the effect of oil subsidy removal, will commence operation in Kwara State this week.

Daily Trust gathered that 10 out of the 15 vehicles will be plying some identified strategic routes within Ilorin metropolis at affordable rates.

Conducting the state's Commissioner for Works and Transport, Dr. Abubakar Amuda Kannike round the parking lot of the NNPC Mega Station in Ilorin, where the vehicles were parked, the Manager, Safetrip Transport Company Limited, Mr. Abdullateef Kareem said more vehicles were being expected.

Responding, the Commissioner for Works, Dr. Abubakar Kannike said the state government was in support of the concept. He assured that more vehicles would be provided for the scheme by the state government to ensure that the fare is affordable.

He said the state government was planning more palliative measures to reduce the cost of transportation in the state.
