Update 3: 11.01am Protesting students dispersed by police. Road cleared. Vehicles now moving

Upadate 2: 10.23am The students have been forced to move close to Kwara Poly gate. Police still firing tear gas

Update 1: 10.03am Mobile police at Elekoyangan firing tear gas to disperse to students. The students are fighting back with stones Students of Kwara State Polytechnic residing at Elekoyangan this morning blocked old Jebba Road that connects Sango with Kwara Polytechnic, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and Oke-Oyi. They are protesting poor water supply and weeks of lack of power due to a damaged transformer.

One of the students, who pleaded to remain anonymous, said they had severally appealed to the government to come to their aid and replace the damaged transformer as lack of power supply was making studying very difficult. As at the time of this report traffic had built up on both ends of the road.
