Date: 2015-07-18

There was tight security in Kwara State, particularly in Ilorin on Friday as Muslim faithful celebrated Eid-el- Fitr.

Security operatives, consisting of uniformed and plain-clothes officials of the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Security; Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps provided security at the various Muslim praying grounds in the state.

The security operatives were also seen at some strategic places in Ilorin such as the Post Office area, Asa Dam Road, Adeta, Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Unity Road and Pakata area.

The celebrations ended peacefully as there were no reports of violence and breach of public peace as of the time of filing this report.

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, in a remark after the Muslims observed their prayers at Eid Praying Ground, Yidi Road, Ilorin, appealed to Nigerians to continue to live in harmony with one another.
