Crises looms as KWHA leadership sacked over allegation against Speaker
The crisis rock-ing the leader-ship of the Kwara State House of Assembly reached its climax yes-terday as leaders of the legislative house were re-moved by the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Speaker of the house, Hon. Rasaq Atun-wa, who announced the sack said; "The hierarchy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)" sent in a let-ter requesting that there be a change in the leader-ship of the house. The crisis that swept off the leaders affected the Majority Leader, Hon. Abraham Asholu; the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Abdulfatai Salman, both of them representing Oke Ero and Ilorin North-West Constituencies re-spectively.
Hon. Illiasu Ibrahim, the erstwhile Chief Whip, whose petition of alleged impropriety against the Speaker sparked off the row last week, was re-placed with Hon. Audu Liman Seidu, representing Edu Constituency in the house.
However, the Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Sikirat Anako, retained her position.Meanwhile, the Speaker, Hon. Atunwa yesterday hinted that a reorganisa-tion of the committees of the House was underway.
He, however, singled out some of the dropped lead-ers for praises because according to him, they served meritoriously.
