My good people of Kwara State, in a few hours, it will be time to vote in the general elections. These elections are crucial because they will define our future as individuals and as a country. I therefore urge those of you that are eligible to come out and exercise your civic responsibilities as citizens of Nigeria.

As your Governor and Chairman of the State's security council, I assure you of your safety, before, during and after these elections and the ones that will follow.

As you are aware, security agencies have been deployed to your communities to keep the peace and uphold law and order. They are to guarantee your safety and the peaceful conduct of the elections. They will however, not hesitate to deal with anyone who takes the law into his or her hands, no matter the individual's political party or orientation.

I, therefore, urge you to remain calm. No harm will befall you, your loved ones, or your community. Remember, security personnel are our brothers and sisters. Do not exercise any fear. Go about your lawful duties, and avoid any acts or utterances capable of disrupting the peace.

On Election Day, cast your vote peacefully, wait at the reasonable distance specified by law until the results are counted and announced.

No political office holder or person is allowed to go to voting areas with uniformed security personnel. Report anyone who contravenes this directive to security agencies for prompt action.

Kwara State is a place of Harmony. This government will do everything possible to ensure our state remains peaceful and harmonious long after these elections have come and gone.
