APC Leaders in Baruten Happy With House of Assembly Primaries
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Baruten Local Government area of Kwara State have expressed satisfaction with the conduct of delegates during the House of Assembly primary.
The party leaders, who spoke in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kosubosu, however, urged members to work for the party's victory in the 2015 general elections.
The primary was held to produce candidate for the Okuta/Yashikira State Constituency.
Announcing the result, Alhaji Shuaib Buragan, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, applauded the display of maturity by the supporters of the two aspirants.
Buragan later told NAN that the party leaders would appease the aggrieved member to chart a common course to defeat the opposition in the general election.
Also speaking, Alhaji Aliyu Yaru, the APC chairman in Baruten Local Government, said candidates from the area had always emerged through consensus.
He, however, told NAN that the party went through primaries because it could not resolve on a consensus.
According to him, the exercise is good for democracy and it demonstrates that people are well informed to make their choice.
Also, Adamu Sabi, the member representing Okuta/Yashikira in the Kwara House of Assembly, said the future of APC was bright in the area. Sabi told NAN that he was optimistic that the party would win the general election with the way the exercise was conducted.
The lawmaker appealed to all members to work for the success of the party.
Meanwhile, Usman Adamu has emerged the party's candidate for the constituency in the 2015 Kwara House of Assembly election.
He defeated his co-contestant, Ahmed Abubakar, by 83 votes to 63. In Ilesha/Gwanara constituency, Umar Gunnu emerged through a consensus arrangement.
