Kwara government promises regular training of workforce

The Kwara state government has restated its commitment to ensuring regular comprehensive training and to embark on capital development programmes for its workforce.

The state Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed said the idea was geared towards improving quality of service and to acquaint the work force with global standard and ethics in the work environment.

Alhaji Mohammed expressed optimism that the approval of about N100m annually to drive the initiative and the readiness of the staff to improve their level of competency, improved productivity was achievable.

He stated this while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital. The Head of Service who added that civil servants were now better ICT inclined, explained that the training which are on demand driven areas, was open to all category of officers whose appointments have been confirmed.

He added that government was also poised to supporting all parastatals and agencies with commensurate subvention and charged them not to renege on their efforts to improve on their internally generated revenue for self reliance.

On the dwindling Federal allocation, Alhaji Mohammed noted that the situation in Kwara state was politically masterminded to frustrate it, expressing disdain that three years on, no federal projects had been carried out in the state.

He however reaffirmed the commitment of government to the welfare of civil servants and called for the patience and support of the people to collectively facilitate the emancipation of the state.
