NNL: Kwara Utd berates TEAP over abandoned match
Kwara United FC of Ilorin, has described the decision of Teap FC of Abuja to discontinue with the week 29 match of Nigeria National League (NNL), in Ilorin on Saturday as a disrespect to the rules of the game.
The club in a statement on Sunday, issued in Ilorin and signed by the General Manager, Alhaji Haruna Maigidasanma, said Teap's action is capable of bringing the game to disrepute.
The statement expressed worry that why will a team leading 2-0 discontinue a match they are in control after the centre referee awarded a deserved penalty.
"We at Kwara United expressed surprise at TEAP because a referee that allowed two away goals Should be commended.
"We also feel that if the referee was not capable to allow the rules of the game to prevail he wouldn't have allowed the away team's two goals.
"We want the management of NNL to look into the matter critically and interpret the rules in accordance with the spirit it was established," the statement reads.
The club expressed its total belief in the management of NNL and commended the board for a job well-done so far, just as it urged the board to do justice to the matter.
The club commended the fans and supporters of the team for exhibiting total spirit of sportsmanship and their conduct so far this season.
The management urged the technical crew of the team and the players to sit up and ensure they work hard enough to promote to the Premier league.
