Date: 2011-09-14

The remains of the National President Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), late Alhaji Jamiu Tunde Ojulari was Wednesday committed to the mother earth amidst tears. Ojulari died at his country home in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Tuesday after a brief illness.

He was later interred at his Ilorin home according to Islamic rites.

The burial ceremony was well attended by sports administrators, friends, relations, sports writers as well as professional colleagues.

However, speaking after the burial, YSFON Vice President, Alhaji Mustapha Allah-Dey amidst tears described his death as sudden and painful.

Allah-Dey said:   "I'm expected to be in Lagos according to him. Last week I was here and he said I would be travelling to Lagos today, Benin next week and straight to Akwa Ibom State. I never knew it was a farewell message."

Also, the former chairman of Kwara United FC, Dr Ayo Bello in his comments said: "I think it is too early for me to say anything now. I cannot understand why God has decided to take him at this time. He is a big loss to us and the sports industry".

He said "We are going to miss his candour, honesty and straightforwardness. His contributions to youths' sports development which is at the core of Nigerian sports are unparalleled. He was a mentor to everybody in sports development."

The Kwara State Sports Writers Association (SWAN) also said that, the death of Alhaji Ojulari is a big loss to the country in general and Kwara State in particular."

He was the pioneer chairman of the Kwara State branch of YSFON which he founded in 1980.
