Navy to establish aviation training school in Kwara
The shared prosperity agenda of the Kwara State Government has started to yield fruits as a Naval Aviation Training School for the training of Naval pilots will soon be established in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The Director, Air Operations, Naval Headquarters, Commondore Bamidupe Babagbale, dropped this hint on Wednesday while presenting a letter of request from the Chief of Naval Staff to the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, for the establishment of the school in the state capital.
According to Bamidupe, the Naval headquarters had trained its pilots three times in Ilorin and was highly impressed with facilities at the Ilorin International Airport.
Ahmed described the establishment of the school as a welcome development as it synchronises with the state government's programme of shared prosperity of Human Capital Development and Youth Empowerment, aimed at developing youth capacity through skill acquisition and vocational training.
Ahmed said the school, when established, would complement the Aviation College set up by the Kwara State Government.
He said the state government would provide the Navy with land and other logistics to ensure the smooth operation of the school.
The goveror said Kwara State has upgraded facilities at the Ilorin International Airport to meet all forms of aviation needs, which could be of help to the Naval authority.
"The decision of the Navy to take advantage of what we have in Kwara State, especially the facilities we have at our Aviation College, is a welcome development," the governor said.
On security, Ahmed said the state government has a cordial relationship with all the security agencies in the state for the sustainance of peace and security.
